Hilton London Heathrow

On my last full day in London, knowing I had a very early flight the following morning, I decided to stay at the Hilton Heathrow, located at terminal 4. This was a closed terminal during Covid, so there was no public transportation, but there is a shuttle bus that goes around for £6 or you can take a taxi for £23.

Now that it's open, you can take the tube, free, from terminal 2/3 to terminal 4 and use the skyway to get to the hotel (and several other hotels).

Arrival

Yet again, the underground line to the airport was under a surprise closing and well, they are batting 25% recently. I took the Heathrow Express train from Paddington station. To get there, I had to transfer underground lines from Victoria to Bakerloo, and luckily the stations had either elevators or were same level to transfer so I wasn't killing myself with my bags.
I arrived around 5pm and the room was ready as one would expect at that hour, and the Executive Lounge was starting its Happy Hour service at 6. Not bad timing at all!

The Room

A very standard-sized business hotel room, which I found nice as most seem not to be this large around Europe and especially in the center of London.

The Suite

Now, having stayed here many times, on a recent trip, I was able to snag an upgrade that was a room to write home about.

The view from the room was an unspectacular glimpse of the atrium so I won't bother with it. Instead, here's the view from the elevator bridges that cross the property.
A fairly 1980s super open atrium plan, which I like

Food and Drink

There is a nice, typical open atrium restaurant with very large bar. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
My favorite amenity in a full-service hotel is the executive lounge which seems to be a very rare item these days, so I am very happy to see and experience them when a hotel has one.

Event Spaces

Several event spaces down below and looking out over a pond. It was a strange space, and I didn't find any open rooms to take a picture.

Amenities

There is a decent gym, many machines and devices available.
Long rows of treadmills Weights and other cardio machines
A King bed, and it fits very well Excellent desk, very new feeling and the plugs were very tight so things stayed put (English plugs are the size of a small dog and pretty heavy) Nice regular-sized vanity Great shower and not sandwiched into a tiny space, I say this because of tiny ass rooms I have had in London Love the airline motif Soccer was all the rage on Sunday. I had other plans for drinks though Quick grab and go for those on a business trip and short on time Ah, yes, the unicorn, an open Executive Lounge Pretty decent sized space, and kinda empty Snacks available And what's this? Free drinks? Well... you found my weakness

Summary

The consummate 4-star business hotel. Many amenities and very clean, great open space and very comfortable feeling place. Cost and convenience wise, I have not found a better hotel for those early morning flights out of Heathrow.

Tip: Get a room facing the inside to mitigate the airport noise.
